“And the day came when the risk to remain in a tight bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom.” ~ Anais Nin
I have three themes on my heart this Mother’s Day: self-compassion, empowerment, and freedom.
Self-compassion: When we accept our imperfections, limitations, humanity, we allow ourselves to be unconditionally accepting of others as well.
Empowerment: When we recognize we are designed as women to embody intuition, we acknowledge we have no need to explain ourselves. It’s ok to be mysterious and misunderstood, and “it just did/didn’t feel right” is enough to explain our choices.
Freedom: When we realize we don’t have to please others, and what matters most is our opinion of ourselves, we are free to be completely who we are meant to be. That is far more beautiful than being a fraction of ourselves in order to be what we think we’re supposed to be.
Mother's Day is a day to acknowledge all the women who know that in order to nurture the buds around them to bloom into their full potential they must also nurture themselves and the divine potential within. I see today as a day to honor the divine feminine in all: unconditional love, kindness, gentleness, acceptance, welcoming, accessibility, compassion, patience, wisdom, intuition, healing, the courage to see and speak truth, and the strength that comes from knowing where one stands. Let us radiate this first within our own souls, and then to all.
